ENHANCING SKILLS AT THE 2024 LEGACY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP: PLAYER PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP

Following the first round of the Legacy Golf Championship, players were treated to a player performance workshop that provided them with valuable insights and tools to elevate their game. The workshop featured access to advanced training technologies and the expertise of renowned golf coaches, making it a memorable and enriching experience for all participants.
The highlight of the workshop was the presence of TrackMan, a state-of-the-art radar system that uses Doppler technology to track and record the 3D characteristics of a golf ball in motion. Players had the opportunity to analyze their swings and ball flights in real-time, gaining a deeper understanding of their game mechanics and areas for improvement.
Coaching Expertise: Thomas Twitty and Bob Ford
The workshop was further enhanced by the involvement of two distinguished golf professionals, Thomas Twitty and Bob Ford, who shared their extensive knowledge and coaching expertise with the players.
Thomas Twitty, M.S.
Thomas Twitty, the founder of E-Trak Technologies and Pure Performance, is a passionate professional in sports performance with a deep understanding of human movement. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science and a Master's in Human Performance. With a background as the Director of Sports Performance at Jacksonville State University, Thomas has significantly impacted the athletic development of numerous student-athletes.
In 2013, Thomas founded Pure Performance in Birmingham, Alabama, a sports performance business that leverages technology to optimize athlete results. He further expanded his entrepreneurial ventures by launching E-Trak Technologies in 2019, a motion analysis platform that provides coaches and practitioners with deeper insights into athlete movement. Thomas and his team have provided invaluable consulting services to various collegiate institutions and professional organizations, including the US Paralympic Coaches, PGA Tour Coaches, and the United Ballet Association.
Robert "Bob" Ford
Bob Ford, a seasoned golf professional, began his journey in sports as a baseball player before transitioning to golf. Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Bob initially played baseball at Provine High School and Jackson State University. It wasn't until 1989 that he played his first round of golf after moving to St. Louis, Missouri. Bob's passion for golf grew rapidly, leading him to leave his job as a health club general manager to pursue a professional career in golf.
Bob's extensive experience includes roles as a Head Golf Instructor at the PGA Tour Superstore in Birmingham, Alabama, and various coaching positions at prestigious golf courses and institutions. His dedication to teaching and coaching has positively influenced countless golfers, from inner-city youth to college athletes and beyond.
Throughout, Ford's career, he has received various recognitions and awards such as the first African American to hold the title of "PGA Apprentice of the Year" for Gulf States Section (Mississippi Chap-ter) and President/Vice-President of PGA Apprentice Assistant for the Gulf States Section.
While away from the game of golf, Ford is a philanthropist and uses his gifts and talents by changing and empowering young men by sharing his lite story and experiences that he has gone through and learned from to help the younger generation by giving back to the community and through mentorship through his "Dressing for Success" workshops and conferences. Also, Ford is the host of the "Robert "Bob' Ford, Sr. Talk Show" and "Let's Talk Golf with Robert "Bob" Ford, Sr. & Friends"' \.
Ford's mission is to introduce people to the game of golf and to provide them with skills and knowledge to play with confidence for business, networking, relaxation, and most importantly fun!
