The Legacy Championship
The Legacy Championship
The LEO Golf Academy along with the Black College Golf Coaches Association (BCGCA), the City of Montgomery, and the Montgomery Department of Parks and Recreation will host the Legacy Golf Championship at Lagoon Park Golf Course. The Legacy Golf Championship is a premier golf tournament featuring a diverse group of junior and collegiate golfers from across the country. Each division will consist of 25 males and 25 females, totaling 100 golfers participating in the event. The inaugural 5-day event (June 14-19, 2024) will begin with a qualifying round and end with a 54-hole stroke play golf championship. Lagoon Park, which was named one of the Top 100 courses in Alabama by Golf Digest, offers players tree-lined fairways and a serene atmosphere. Our goal is to provide a venue that creates invaluable opportunities for junior golfers to showcase their skills and network with the college coaches that will be in attendance. This event will also provide an avenue for collegiate players to gain World Amateur Golf Rankings. The uniqueness of the LGC will stem from the extra activities incorporated into the daily schedule, providing an opportunity for the players and their families to learn about Montgomery's rich history as the “Birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement”.
